I'm New Here

Q: What if I have not  been to church in a long time?
A: Not a problem! In fact, we don’t care if you have never been to church. The doors of the church are open to all sinners in need of a Savior, and we are all in need of a Savior.  Each weekend, people visit Good Shepherd for the first time.

Q: What if I am not Lutheran?
A: While Good Shepherd is a Missouri Synod Lutheran Church we are open to all people who want to know our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Being Lutheran is not a requirement for attending services.

Q: What can I expect when I come to Good Shepherd?
You can expect welcoming faces, lively conversation, and reverent worship.

Q: What if I want to receive Holy Communion?
A: We believe, teach, and confess the Real Presence of Christ in the Lord's Supper -- that Christ's body and blood are truly present in the bread and the wine received in Holy Communion.  Jesus commanded us to celebrate Holy Communion until He returns so that we may have forgiveness of sins, strengthening of faith, and are enabled by Him to live God-pleasing lives, carrying out the work He has prepared in advance for us to do.  It is a wonderful mystery how we enter heaven and the very presence of God in Christ in this meal.  What is even more amazing is that God calls us Himself, and invites us to His table.  Scripture tells us that when we receive the Lord’s Supper, we are not merely receiving bread and wine, but the true, real body and blood of Jesus Christ. Jesus said in Matthew 26:26-30, not “this represents my body” or “this symbolizes my blood.”  “This is my body… this is my blood;”

Because the Lord's Supper is such a profound sacrament and mystery and our participation in the Lord's Supper is a confessional statment of unity, we respectfully ask that you speak to our Pastor prior to receiving the Sacrament if you are not currently a member of an LC-MS congregation. You may contact him by email or through the church office by calling 920-793-1716.

Q: I am struggling with some personal problems. Is help available?
A: Our Pastor is always ready to meet, discuss, counsel, and pray with you about any situation you may be facing. You may contact Pastor Kilps through the church office; or by email.  Here is a link to all the contact information.

Q: How do I find out what's going on at Good Shepherd?
A: One great way to find out is to check out our calendar. If you attend Sunday morning services you will receive a lot of information in our bulletin about news and events that are occurring weekly.   Our monthly newsletter is available online and near the church entryway.

Q: How do I get involved?
A: The best place to start is to attend a Bible study. If it's serving or connecting with others, that you're interested in, we have a place for you.  Contact the church office for more information on ministries you are interested in.

 Q: How do I become a member?
A:  If you are interested in becoming a member or just learning more about Lutheran doctrine we offer New Member classes taught by Pastor Kilps. Please contact the church office to learn more about membership and classes.
